Ellie Schwetye

DIrector & Sound Designer

Ellie Schwetye, she/her, is a St. Louis-based producer, director, adapter, sound designer, and performer. She is the co-producer of SATE with whom she has worked on myriad productions since 2009, including directing As You Like It (her own adaptation) and John Wolbers' original adaptation Doctor Faustus: or, the Modern Prometheus. Ellie has worked with other area companies including New Jewish Theatre (Every Brilliant Thing, Fully Committed), The Black Rep (sound designer for Sunset Baby), Prison Performing Arts (adapter of The Rover), ERA (performer in Antigone, Trash Macbeth, Oedipus Apparatus), The Midnight Company (director of A Model for Matisse and Here Lies Henry, and performer in Tinseltown), West End Players Guild (director of The Christians, Photograph 51, Silent Sky, and Arcadia), Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis, (sound designer for The Night of the Iguana and performer in A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur), YoungLiars (performer in Titus Androgynous), SIUE Summer Theatre Festival (director of As You Like It), and is the Assistant Theatre Program Director at Clayton High School.
